This chair is really quite exquisite, its what’s called a show frame, cabinet makers would craft ornately decorated chairs like this to take to exhibitions, the idea being they were so beautiful they would capture the attention of passing customers who would then commission pieces to be made with elements of this design.
The frame is solid mahogany, the leather lovely thick English hide, the chair is finished with the original porcelain castors
The chair has been fully restored to include having the leather washed back, its then been hand dyed six times, antiqued and sealed, the mahogany frame has been stripped back and French polished from the ground up
