Mid-19th Century
The figure depicts President Abraham Lincoln sitting on horseback, his head turned towards the viewer, on an oval base with the name A. LINCOLN embossed in black in the front central section of the base. He holds a hat in his left hand down at his side- not, it should be noted, the stovepipe hat that he is known for. Lincoln wears a yellow jacket with an ermine collar.
Height: 15 inches x 9 1/4 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches
The horse’s right leg had an old break which has now been invisibly repaired.
The British public was firmly in favor of Abolition and Lincoln was a popular figure.
