Set of five 19th century Hand painted delft vases including 3 Lidded Urns, also known as a garniture, elevate the blue & white art form to a special place, all having been hand-painted by one artist with matching themes of the persistent angler! The set includes three lidded urns, with birds feeding on fruit adorning the lids, and a shield shaped urn form with flared, hexagonal base. The two vases are more classically designed with convex forms and the same hexagonal bases. The cobalt blue painted embellishment includes multiple shades for a subtle chromatic effect, with florals, foliates and bordering dominating the remainder of the compositions. Even the back sides feature an abstract naturalistic form suggesting water and a young shoot of greenery. The fisherman in each primary image with his trusty canine companion and the idyllic surroundings and background create a wonderful pastoral image.
