Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this stunning, absolutely massive Estate made desk, Island or pair of Sideboards hand carved in the Thomas Chippendale manor
Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote, please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price.
This is a complicated piece of furniture, it looks to me that it was one absolutely enormous desk that has had the top cut down to be used as two very large sideboards or as one Island. The quality of the carving is sublime, every single piece of this from the handles to the cuts of timber is exquisite
I am selling it as it is in case the new owner would like to use them as two separate sideboards, I can also have a new top made which will be significantly larger and returning the piece to a traditionally shaped pedestal desk
Each pedestal has eleven drawers and one slip writing shelf, one open cupboard and one closed, the desk retains all the original handwear, then handles and locks are present but no keys, they can be made by pretty much any locksmith
In terms of the condition, we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, as mentioned the top has been cut down and the join line in the middle isn’t a 100% perfect flush fit as it was cut by hand, there will be good honest age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect, one of the slip shelves has a leather top, the other doesn’t

Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition
