Staffordshire frog mug transfer printed in brown and over painted by hand. One side depicts fruit picking while the other side shows young ladies on a swing in a garden. The top inside rim has a transfer and hand painted border of flowers. The interior has a brown molded frog applied at the bottom. The frog’s head is raised so that It also added a bit of surprise and whimsy. Also known as a surprise mug. Imagine drinking your beer to find a frog at the bottom. First introduced in 1750 and became exceedingly popular during the first quarter of the nineteenth century.
