A very good looking early Victorian piece, this is fundamentally a drop front desk that has been made in a very compact and decorative way, the idea being when not in use it is a small piece of furniture that displays a beautiful hand made tapestry which depicts and oriental scene. The piece has campaign handles either side for ease of transport
When needed the front panel unlocks with the original key and drops down to reveal a very nicely sized work station, you have an area stationary which includes a sliding quill tray, in a modern context this is perfect as a laptop work station. To the left we find the original brass candlestick holder, essential for any work station prior to the installation of home electrics
We have cleaned waxed and polished the timber, its solid oak and has a wonderful grain
