Early 19th century mahogany bow front attributed to S & H Jewell from London. S & H Jewell were fine quality cabinet makers who were established in 1830. They were a family business who worked from their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London. This chest is spectacular. It has a shaped top with boxwood and satinwood inlay banding and columns which also have satinwood inlaid floral decoration on the columns over a reeded edge and two over three drawer configuration. The drawer fronts are double banded in matching boxwood and satinwood inlay, flanked by corner columns that have been hand turned in a lovely twist pattern. the chest is supported on hand turned feet as well. This piece will be a wonderful addition to any collection.
