19th century English country house fire escape
We are proud to offer a rare example of a 19th century quirky county house fire escape, once of the Fasque House, Fettercaine Estate, Aberdeen. The hand painted wooden dovetail jointed box contains a heavy rope, canvas wooden based sack with safety harness and cast metal pulley system. Enabling residents to escape the upper floors of the house. The Scottish seat of the Gladstone family where William E Gladstone (4 times Prime Minister) Commissioned the building of Fasque House in 1829 whereby the fire escape would have of the inventory of the productions. This decorative object would make a rare and highly usual talking point, in any well-presented home or office interior space and weights over 20KG.
