An unusual and rare English potlid believed to depict Jenny Lind and attributed to Ridgway and dating from around 1850. The lid is printed with a lady seated in a garden landscape in a rather elegant white ball gown and with a guitar resting on her leg. The scene is set within a raised surround of flowers and stems and is hand painted in colored enamels over a printed ground. We believe the portrayal to be of Jenny Lind a famous Swedish born singer who was born in 1820 and came to England in 1847.
In good condition with normal age wear and a couple of chips to the inside rim.
