This very early 1800s Danish Bornholm Grandfather clock was peobably made around 1800-1820.
It has beautiful detail and the paint is generally good as you can see with the gold detailing turning bronze with age.
It has the usual amount of cracking and wood movement for its age but its structurally sound although needs delicate handling.
It comes with the original clockwork, pendulum and weights which may work but it is not function tested
The clock is sold ‘as is’ : as a decorative piece only with the original mechanism and pendulum but not guaranteed to be in working order – If you want it working we can fit a professional hi torque battery mechanism for time keeping ( +£250) or you can have a great sounding chiming mech which replays the recorded chime through a small speaker with a volume control and 8 hour night off switch (+£350) or you can choose to have you local clockman clean / repair and set up the original clockwork mechanism at your location to get it going
The battery mech change if you choose that option takes approximate 2-3 weeks.
The clock will be on our next shipment from sweden so shipping to your location may be delayed until it arrives
The bornholm clocks were made by fisherman on days when they couldn’t fish due to bad weather to make extra money in the early 1800s and according to the owner the backboard of this one is partly made from old herring crates. How romantic!
